Ok - I have until the washer stops so I will type rapido!!  It is snowing out right now - seriously?  I mean snow too - not the light foo foo snow we had at the beginning of March - but this is SNOW.  It is supposed to taper off soon which is good since several of us are caravanning out to my parents house for a thank you luncheon hosted by my Mom.  She wanted to do something for the people who went above and beyond during "the clot"  these ladies were consistently keeping me company, taking me to the doctor, picking up food, helping me shower (those were the really really good friends).  Mom has seemed to have gone all out - and that is just from the snippets I've heard about it.  I also think she was excited to have a legitimate excuse to have the carpets cleaned after 5 years in the house!! 

My modem decided to go belly up earlier this week - which is not helpful when trying to get on-line.

Ok there was a small cleaning break there - switched out the washer and dryer, started the Rumba and took out 3 bags of trash.  Sitting down to finish the post before I go clean myself!  The massive multi tasking is helped by the fact that I am on my 3rd cup of coffee. 

Daddy was here on Thursday to help me do more around the house projects.  I now have shelves in my front closet, good solid toilet seats, vacuumed refrigerator coils and more wall art hung.  We also took an amazing amount of stuff to Salvation Army.....and since Thursday, I've accumulated even more stuff to go.  I am not sure why I am on this massive cleaning spree - maybe I've been inspired by Lovely Lisa who has put her condo on the market - maybe spending two and a half weeks in the house without leaving inspired me - maybe I just want new crap!!  In this massive cleaning spree, I've found tons of cards that I addressed - but never sent out....so I am going to do that this week.  Some people have lots of mail that they will get - silly Sarah!!  I also found the cds of photos that I thought I lost.  Before my last computer crapped out, I wisely uploaded my photos to some cds....and then lost them.  I was just beside myself thinking I had lost the photos from weddings, trips and good times.  Now they are safely on my computer and scheduled to be backed up tonight on my external hard drive!  Whew!!

Spring Sprang Sprung

It is a fantastic spring day here in the Windy City.  My windows are open, I've been for a walk and I am making process in Operation De-Clutter!!  I completely heart spring.  Here's hoping I can find some cheap spring blossoms to brighten the house up even more than normal. 

How to waste a perfectly good day

Today I woke up refreshed! Go me!  I ate some healthy breakfast material and started researching where to go to get my neck and shoulders rubbed and which phone to which I wanted to upgrade.  Went for a saturday walk with Miss Jessica - she walked close to 4 miles - I walked close to 3.  Note to self - in the future, walk with Miss Jessica back to her house to up mileage!!  Came home, ate lunch and started looking at all my cds.  This led to me grabbing all the unlabeled cds and popping them into my computer to see what is one them.  It has been several hours and I am about half way done.  Thus far I've located photos, my papers from my master's classes and music that I lost when my old computer when belly up.  I've also hooked up my external hard drive to catch everything I've found.  Sweet! 

In between waiting for cds to download, I've measured all the things needing to be measured for Daddy/Daughter Home Improvement Day next week.  I've also worked on decluttering my bedroom and 2nd bedroom.  Next on the list is to update my dvd list....yes, I have a dvd list.  Go ahead - shake your head, I can't help the way I am. (which would be practically friggin' perfect baby!!!)

So this is my next to last 4 day week and I had grand plans - grand I tell ya!  But they were pretty much all flushed down the crapper when I was at the Vic till past midnight on Wednesday.  My early morning rising just didn't happen...though I was up and out of the house by 9.  Got to the doctor's office and had my blood tested  (drum roll please) my blood STAYED THE SAME - Halle-friggin-lujah.  Praise Jebus. So now I get a two week break between finger pricks. Oh, and I finally heard from my nutritionist, so I will be meeting with her next week to get my life back on track with the subtraction of Vitamin K.....sigh what I would do for a whole meal with those sweet, sweet, sweet blood thickening food. Sigh.

** Dad - you don't want to read this part!!  please skip to next paragraph** In more IUD news, I was so not enjoying the sensation on Monday, I forgot to tell you all the funny things I actually thought about - the best being that I now have two small what seem like fiber optic threads emerging from my inner plumbing - it's like my own light show - party in Miss Sarah's pants!!

OK Dad - start reading again!  I watched Miss Ruby today while Char went to the Dr.  She is such a sweet little thing - and at my favorite stage....3 months.....she can smile now but she can't walk.  Perfect.  So I think we had a nice time....even during the 30 minute crying jag that seemed like it would never ever end.  What finally soothed the savage baby was an out of tune guitar.  She went from hysterical wails to complete silence as she stared at the instrument.  That led to getting her swaddled and rocked to sleep - when she woke, all smiles.  And despite a howling that would wake the dead, I would totally do it again and am looking forward to having my own screaming banshee!!

There were high hopes of getting my closets sorted today for Dad's visit next Thursday to install shelving etc etc.  However, once I got home from Char's I had to get ready for dinner with M-A, Shannon and Allison from the Bank.  So now I am home.  There is a menagerie of photo frames on my bed.....part of my cleaning things out of the house mission.  My favorite discovery was that of a photo of my dear friend Andrea from high school in IL with her now ex-husband on their wedding day.  I took the photo out of the frame to scan and put the frame in the donate box.  Don't want to jinx any other relationships by putting it in the frame (sorry George!!) plus it is site specific plus one can't really put Grandma's photo in a frame dedicated to Vegas.

Depends on your definition of "slight"

so today was IUD day.  The bright side is that when I expressed my discomfort my stating rather loudly "mother fucker" my doctor laughed.  The down side is that I went back to work afterward.  Now I wasn't doubled over the entire day - but let me tell you, i am currently aware that something is different. of a "slight" discomfort you might say. I am sure that if I could take something stronger than Tylenol - like Advil, midol, a bottle of red, a bottle of white..... Lis tells me that her Mom is given Tylenol 3 and vicodin with her blood thinners - I guess I look like some sort of hard core druggie or something

anyslightdiscomfortway, last week was the week of bdays!!  Julie, Anne-Michelle and Jessica K all shook hands with a number in the 30's.  All of them are looking fabulous and totally babe-a-licious.  Congrats ladies.

My blood levels were 2.1 last week (that's good).  The doctor stated that I had to wait until the end of April to start go-going or biking or doing any exercise other than walking.  The same goes for long car trips or flights.  So I am walking and eating lots of iceberg lettuce (never fear it is low in Vit K). I vow to be back at my pre blood clot weight by the time I am released for go go.  I swear it!!

Ok - I still hurt - going to get the heating pad out and lie on my couch.  Ciao.

So  I went to see my OBGYN on Monday.  because of the blood clot, I had to go off the pill and can no longer use any hormone based contraceptive - my only non-hormonal options are having my tubes tied, the copper IUD, condoms or abstinence (as my mother pointed out).  Ergo, I am going with the copper IUD.  Now I know that I was an IUD baby - but it is better than nothing in my mind.  Read all the material on it - Did you know you have to check it once a month?  I won't tell you how - but it was facinating. Fascinating. 

It had been a long weekend.  I was violently ill on Friday - bad thai food I believe was the culprit.  You have never thrown up, until you do so sitting on a bath stool since you can't kneel on your leg.  I have one word and that word in Splatter.  Gross.  Anyway, i was convinced I was dying.  Fever, vomiting, trying to decide if that was regurgitated oreos or blood in the bowl, and horrid horrid acid filled burps that took my breath away and made it hard to breathe.  I completely went hormonal on Paul Sunday nite and then felt wonderful on Monday.  - no more acid reflux, no more odd pains in my leg - nada.....the only thing I had to do was explain to him that I am cold turkeying a drug I was on for 15 years and that everything is so vivid for me right now - the highs are higher the lows are lowers, the lust is lustier....and the snozberries taste like snozberries (sorry, watched Willy Wonka last night) so that he will have to deal nicely with me over the next few months.  That goes for you all too!

My friggin blood levels are still at 1.8 even though they have upped my med levels - even my blood is fat!!  Insane.  I am heading to the store on saturday and getting iceberg lettuce and cottage cheese - swear to god, I need something to be thin on my frame.  I stepped on my Wii Fit (in what I was appalled to realize was a really really really long time) and it told me that I had gained 15lbs since I last weighed in - pretty much all of which has occurred in the past month.  (by the way I just ate a mini peanut butter cup as I wrote that - I am seeing my problem!!)  So yeah.  The dr. is still working to balancing my blood - so tonight I had to take 12 mg of Coumadin and then back to 6mg tomorrow - blood retest on Saturday. Lather, Rinse, Repeat.

Let's see - what else in going on in Sarah's world - Tuesday was my first full day at work - and cheese and crackers I was knackered.  I mean, I was so tired I had trouble eating a bagel for dinner.  I really need my stamina built back up!  Each day since has been a wee bit easier - by next Friday life will be rockin' and rollin'.  I am totally walking without the cane - now if I could only get the damn compression hose to stay up and not gather around my knee.  Walking home Monday night the damn thing came undone and snapped me on my ass - le sigh.

Ok - back to the positive thinking of life!!

I am taking a wild guess that the snow we are currently experiencing would fall on the "lion" side of March versus the "lamb" side.  Just a wild guess.
